Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association) has helped

charter, Fannie Mae is one of the world's largest financial

financing.
Fannie Mae mortgage provides liquidity in the market by buying
mortgages from lenders and packaging them for resale,
transferring risk from lenders and allowing them to offer
mortgages to those who may not otherwise qualify. Fannie Mae
also invests in mortgage-backed securities. It enjoys borrowing
from the government at low rates; is exempt from certain taxes;
and benefits from an implicit guarantee of federal support.
